Established in 1989 to promote the cause of study and research in Indian Music, the Trust publishes the works of Sri Rangaramanuja Ayyangar and his daughter-disciple, Smt. Padma Varadan.

Sri Ayyangar's magnum opus in Tamil, Kritimanimalai,  is regarded as one of the most comprehensive compilations of Carnatic Music compositions. His pioneering work in detailing the notation of nearly 1500 kriti-s of Sri Tyagaraja, Sri Muddusvami Dikshitar, Sri Syama Sastri and others, sought to preserve the authentic musical traditions of Carnatic Music.

Smt. Padma Varadan, a veena artiste of renown, founded this Trust to continue the legacy of her father and worked with utmost passion and devotion to promote his works. Her meticulous efforts made possible the English Adaptations of the first three volumes of the Kritimanimalai series with very significant value addition of gamaka markings.

With the publication in 2015 of the fifth editions of Kritimanimalai, Parts I and II in Tamil (Sri Tyagarajasvami compositions), the first three volumes of the Kritimanimalai series are now available in both Tamil and English. Part IV with compositions of Sri Syama Sastri and other composers continues to be available in Tamil.

The second (revised) edition of Sri Ayyangar's critical, analytical study of Sarangadeva's Sangitaratnakara was published in 2016. The text has been set with diacritical markings and includes many new facets based on contemporary studies.

The third (revised) edition of Sri Ayyangar's 'History of South Indian (Carnatic) Music' is in print and will be released on 29 March 2019.
